McDonald’s Franchise Owners Condemn California’s “Draconian” Fast Food Bill

California's groundbreaking fast-food bill has been met with strong criticism from the National Owners Association (NOA)

representing over 1,000 McDonald's franchise owners. The NOA has labeled the bill's rules as “draconian”

The bill, which was signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom in September 2022, creates a new Fast Food Council

The NOA has argued that the bill willdisproportionately impact small business owners and that it will make it more difficult for them

to operate their businesses profitably. The organization has also warned that the bill could lead to higher food prices for consumers.

Despite the NOA's criticism, the bill is supported by many labor unions and consumer groups.

These groups argue that the bill is necessary to protect fast food workers, who are often underpaid and overworked.

The bill is scheduled to take effect in January 2024. It remains to be seen how

the bill will be implemented and what impact it will have on the fast food industry in California.
